Install Canon MP550 printerdrivers
- Put some paper in the printer
- Connect the printer to the PC with a USBcable\
- Connect the printer to the power
- Turn the printer on
- Download the drivers form:
- Open a terminal
- Login as root
- mkdir /tmp/canon
- Goto the folder: MP550_debian_driver_pack
- mv cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-1-i386-deb.tar.gz /tmp/canon/ (check if the filename is the same)
- cd /tmp/canon
- tar zxvf cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-1x-i386-deb.tar.gz (check if the filename is the same)
- cd cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-x-i386-deb
- ./install.sh
- Start of script output
- When the printer is ready, press the Enter key.: Press Enter (we already connected the printer and turned it on).
- Target printers detected
- 1) Canon MP550 series (/dev/usb/lp0)
- ———————————————————--
- (Currently selected:[1]Canon MP550 series (/dev/usb/lp0))
- Enter the value. [1]
- Do you want to set this printer as the default printer? (yes/no) [yes]
- End of script output
- Do: /etc/init.d/cups restart
- Do: Start | Settings | Printing
- Click and the nright click on the MP550 icon
- Select properties
- If you get a message about a unkown IPP tag click OK
- Click on the Print Self-Test page
- Click on the Print Test Page button
