1. Put some paper in the printer
   
2. Connect the printer to the PC with a USBcable\
3. Connect the printer to the power
   
4. Turn the printer on
   
5. Download the drivers form:
   
6. Open a terminal
   
7. Login as root
   
   1. mkdir /tmp/canon
   2. Goto the folder: MP550_debian_driver_pack
   3. mv cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-1-i386-deb.tar.gz /tmp/canon/ (check if the filename is the same)
   4. cd /tmp/canon
   5. tar zxvf cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-1x-i386-deb.tar.gz (check if the filename is the same)
   6. cd cnijfilter-mp550series-3.20-x-i386-deb
   7. ./install.sh
   8. Start of script output
      1. When the printer is ready, press the Enter key.: Press Enter (we already connected the printer and turned it on).
      2. Target printers detected
         1. 1) Canon MP550 series (/dev/usb/lp0)
         2. ———————————————————--
         3. (Currently selected:[1]Canon MP550 series (/dev/usb/lp0))
         4. Enter the value. [1]
      3. Do you want to set this printer as the default printer? (yes/no) [yes]
   9. End of script output
8. Do: /etc/init.d/cups restart
9. Do: Start | Settings | Printing
10. Click and the nright click on the MP550 icon
11. Select properties
12. If you get a message about a unkown IPP tag click OK
13. Click on the Print Self-Test page
14. Click on the Print Test Page button

cupsys
This works:
localhost:631 login as user root
Register the printer manually by using the lpadmin command
