Select a region first, then fill it
Ctrl+click will use the background color
The paint bucket shows a black circle with line through it indicating that you can not do that.
Solution:
- Menu | Layer
- Click: New from visible
- Now you should be able to paint bucket fill (we were not. To be solved)
This can happen after you used the text tool, which creates a new layer so you are in the text layer and not in the picture layer. Solution:
- Select Bucket fill
- Select the Layers tab
- Select the layer you want to fill something in
- Now you should be able to fill again
- Try selecting an area with the Fuzzy Select tool and then fill the area
