Installing software

To install and uninstall packages we suggest using aptitude, the default package manager for Debian

Be aware that when you uninstall a package not all packages that came with it will be uninstalled. Check /var/log/aptitude to check if all packages are uninstallled and if not uninstall them manually if no packages depend on them any more
Be aware that when you uninstall a package not all configuration files and directories are removed
