Key bindings

Keybindings can be set in $HOME/.muttrc
Example: bind pager [ half-up

o Sort ascending. O : descending
d Mark the current message for deletion
$ Remove e-mails marked as delete
l Small letter el. Limit the number of shown messages. Show only messages which comply to the clause entered. Undo with l all
D Delete messages according to a pattern
ttag-patternTag a message. Untag with t. t is a toggle
T Tag multiple messages. Just some characters works fine. Regular expessions can be used
;tag-prefixMakes it possible to enter a command. Example: ;d marks all taged messages for deletion
Enter the number of an e-mail → The cursor goes to that e-mail even if it is marked as deleted

Errors

Could not create temporary file!

The temporary file is, by default, in /tmp. As of Debian Bullseye it is /var/tmp
Check the permissions of /tmp. They should be: drwxrwxrwt
They can be set by root with

chmod 777 /tmp
chmod +t /tmp

Also check tie ownership if you get the “could not create temporary file” error
