Install an other kernel

The mentioned kernels are examples

  • Check which kernel is installed with uname -r
  • Log in as root
  • Install the new kernel aptitude install linux-image-686 or select and install the kernel manually in aptitude
    • This also installs linux-image-4.19.0-9-686
  • reboot
  • When in grub select advanced options
    • Select the new kernel
      • linux-image-4.19.0-9-686
      • Hit ENTER
  • Log in as root
  • Check if the new kernel is active with uname -a . If so
    • aptitude purge linux-image-686-pae
      • This also uninstalls linux-image-4.19.0-9-686-pae
  • Ready
