Commands
Command | Description |
---|---|
exo-desktop-item-edit | Create icons on the desktop |
exo-open | Open URLs and launch preferred applications |
exo-preferred-applications | Xfce Preferred Applications Framework |
The last item opens
which can also be opened via the Menu
Menu | Settings | Preferred Applications
Now we will discuss how to set the desired web browser to be launched by the exo-open command
exo-open
exo-open - Open URLs and launch preferred applications (for Xfce)
The command to launch the web browser is
exo-open --launch WebBrowser %u
Open isseu with helpers.rc and exo-preferred-applications
If more web browsers are installed it is not clear which one will be launched. This can be set via the configuration file
/etc/xdg/xfce4/helpers.rc
However, changing the settings with
exo-preferred-applications
does not change this file. We tried to find where the data set with exo-preferred-applications is stored. We searched with grep but were not able to find the configuration file. Also searching the Internet did not give any clues.
Also, changing the item WebBrowser in this file from
WebBrowser=debian-sensible-browser
to
WebBrowser=xlinks2
which is installed, does not have any effect.
If we search for a program
debian-sensible-browser
with
find / -type f -name debian-sensible-browser
if is not found. So it is not clear to us where debian-sensible-browser is called / located
So far it is not clear to us where the settings changed with
exo-preferred-applications
are stored
