Show the temperature of drive sda: hddtemp /dev/sda
htttemp needs to be setuid root. A hack is to make sure chmod u+s /usr/sbin/hddtemp has been executed, as root, in a terminal
Also add, with visudo to the sudoers file user Computername=(root:ALL) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/hddtemp *
You can make a panel Generic monitor by entering this script
echo " `/usr/sbin/hddtemp -n /dev/sda`°C"
in the Command field
An alternative is to use the Sensors panel item
Detect all sensors in the computer with sensors-detect
Show output of all detected sensors with sensors
Now the sensors can be shown in the panel with the Sensors panel item. Also of the harddisk temperature
